Itaconix® Corporation was founded in 2008 to develop and produce polymers from itaconic acid and its derivatives.
We established our own large-scale production facility and launched our first commercial product, Itaconix® Dispersant DSP 2K™ in 2009. DSP 2K™ is sold to consumer and industrial detergent formulators as an effective builder to replace phosphates, EDTA, citric acid and petroleum-based chemicals
due to its outstanding binding capacity.
Itaconix® Dispersant DSP 2K™ has gained growing acceptance
and use as the builder of choice. We provide solutions to
leading standard and green detergents. We work with prospective and current customers to develop and test formulations in our applications laboratory.
We effectively reduce product cost and improve performance.
We are developing and testing use in new application areas
based on customer interest in the properties and
performance of novel polymers of itaconic acid.
We have expanded our product and technology to include an extensive range of linear, cross-linked and emulsion polymers.
We have broad intellectual property covering the major itaconic acid polymerization processes, products and applications.
In 2009, Itaconix received a grand from the USDA to research and develop the use of wood bio-mass as the feedstock for fermenting itaconic acid. Working with the University of Maine and the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, we established the ability to ferment itaconic acid from a variety of carbohydrate sources, and are continuing to investigate commercial capabilities.
